Stone Veneer
About Stone Veneer Work:
Stone Veneer is a manufactured concrete stone product produced to simulate the look and feel of natural stone. Because it is manufactured using various concrete blends, aggregates, and molds, it’s available in wide variety of colors, sizes and textures. Stone Veneers can be mixed and matched to create unique stone work designs.
Typically used as a veneer (cut flat on the back side for consistent installation and appearance), it can be used for both interior projects such as fireplaces or wine cellars, or for outside projects such as step risers, porches or accent walls.
Stone Veneer Work Construction:
Stone Veneer can be used on a variety of masonry projects in place of natural stone, brick or granite.
On interior projects where Stone Veneer will be laid over drywall, the surface is prepped with wire mesh and mortar to provide a suitable mounting surface. On block or brick, a healthy layer of mortar is used to add the layer of cut veneer stone directly to the surface. Interior Stone Veneer projects can have a dry stack look or a mortared look depending on your preference.
When Stone Veneer is used for exterior projects, a more weather resistant site preparation and construction method is used. Surfaces are first prepared with a tyvek vapor barrier and then wire mesh and mortar are used to lay the Stone Veneer to the surface. As an added measure against weather and moisture, joints are fully mortared.
